AUGUSTA, Maine — A judge has ruled that an Augusta man who stabbed his roommate was not criminally responsible by reason of mental disease.
Malcolm Robert Moore on Tuesday was ordered held at Riverview Psychiatric Center in the custody of the commissioner of the Department of Health & Human Services until he is deemed unlikely to cause harm to himself or others.
The Kennebec Journal reported Moore was indicted in February on a charge of aggravated assault on his roommate, Aaron Brunelle.
Prosecutors say Moore and Brunelle got into a fight last November after Brunelle told him to clean up a mess he made in the kitchen. Brunelle survived.
A mental health professional said Moore was not taking his medication at the time.
What’s to say that he won’t go off his medicine again, and kill someone after he is released, after being treated at Riverview?
Because once your deemed “Not criminally responsible due to mental defect” your chances of EVER being able to live back in the community is pretty slim. Typically these are the people that will never make it past a residential setting with 24/7 support staff. In these settings, forensic consumers do not have the civil right to refuse their medications. If they refuse they go straight back to the hospital. No questions asked. Perhaps you should do your research BEFORE opening your mouth.

is deemed unlikely to cause harm to himself or others.” BDN Some would say he will just walk, but the commisioner does not want to release anybody that would place a blemish on their career record. He possibly should have faked sanity, and just gone to prison, and got out sooner.
Maybe the judge should take him in,When he is deemed unlikely to harm others.
So, does that mean if I decide to explode and kill someone then as long as I had stopped taking my meds first I get to go to a nice cushy hospital?
