BANGOR, Maine — Both Waterfront Concerts and MTV confirmed that Lil Wayne and T.I. will be adding a flamboyant dash of hip-hop to the country music-dominated Bangor Waterfront Concerts series this summer.

Promoters released the initial 40-date tour information Monday afternoon, and Bangor is batting 11th in the lineup. Lil Wayne — aka Weezy — is reviving his America’s Most Wanted Music Festival five years after the first one and bringing some different supporting acts, including T.I. and Future. They’ll be playing Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion on Tuesday, July 23 — two weeks after the tour kicks off in Birmingham, Ala.

Neither ticket prices nor the first on-sale date for buying tickets have been determined yet. Fans are encouraged to check Waterfront Concerts’ official website at for updated information.

Wayne’s 2009 tour grossed about $42 million and drew approximately 800,000 ticket-buying fans.

Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. will be promoting the release of his “I Am Not a Human Being 2” album, due to be released March 26. Despite being just 30, the New Orleans native has 21 years of experience as a professional musician and 10 studio albums to his credit already.

The rapper’s health has been the subject of rampant speculation and media reports since last October, when his plane bound for L.A. had to make a medically related emergency landing in Texas. He had a similar incident requiring an unscheduled landing the next day, and has reportedly had several seizure-like incidents since that time, but he recently proclaimed himself “more than good” in a blog and 90-second video clip on TMZ March 21 after reportedly suffering a seizure while filming a music video and being hospitalized for six days.

Lil Wayne has four platinum albums (one double and one triple) to his credit along with 13 Top 20 Billboard Hot 100 or hip-hop chart singles, one of which — “Lollipop” — topped the charts in 2007.

When tickets do go on sale, they will be available locally at Mark’s Music store at Penobscot Square in Brewer, online at, by phone at 1-800-745-3000 or at all Ticketmaster outlets.
