BANGOR, Maine — A local transient was behind bars Monday after a fight with his ex-girlfriend turned physical over the weekend, according to police.

Christopher Beayon, 21, was intoxicated when he went to visit the woman at her First Street apartment shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, Bangor police Lt. Steve Hunt said.

Hunt said Beayon said mean things to the woman and punched her, causing facial and chest injuries.

Beayon apparently was angry over a recent breakup with the woman, Hunt said.

Beayon was arrested and charged with domestic violence assault. He remained at Penobscot County Jail on Monday.
