ORONO, Maine — A 56-year-old man died Tuesday evening after being struck by a vehicle, according to police.

Richard Thibodeau, whose last known address was in Carmel, was struck by a vehicle at 161 Forest Ave. at 7:02 p.m., said Orono police Sgt. Scott Wilcox.

Thibodeau was taken by the Orono Fire Department to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8 p.m.

Thibodeau was working for a paving company that was finishing up work in the area where he was struck, said Wilcox.

Police are investigating the incident as well as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, because of it being a workplace death, said Wilcox.

Wilcox did not release any further details on Wednesday afternoon. He released no details about the vehicle and driver involved.

Old Town police Officer Lee Miller and Maine State Police Trooper Christopher Cookson were reconstructing the crash Wednesday morning, according to Wilcox.
