UNITY – Janet E. (Nutt) Gardiner, daughter of the late Payson and Mabel (Elliot) Nutt, passed away May 9, 2013, at Inland Hospital, Waterville.
She spent most of her life in Maine, grew up in Freedom and went to Freedom Academy.
Janet is survived by her husband of 66 years, Austin M. Gardiner; three sons, Wayne and wife, Lucille, Randle, and Myles and wife, Juanita; two daughters, Sandra Cleaves, and Cheryl and husband, Glenn Proudlove; and one brother, William and wife, Valorie Nutt. She was predeceased by three sisters, Irene Drew, Muriel Bowerman and Shirley Goodhue. We thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Inland Hospital for the compassionate and attentive care they gave Janet and family in her final days.
There will be a celebration of life 2-5 p.m. May 18, at Legion Hall, Unity. Janet will be laid to rest in a private service at a later date at Maine Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her husband, Austin, asks that donations be made in Janet’s name to Veterans’ Widows and Families Fund. Special thanks to granddaughter, Amy Moore, for all her assistance.
