BANGOR, Maine — Jared Fogle, Subway’s commercial figurehead for the past 13 years, will meet with children in Bangor and Glenburn to talk about healthy eating and exercise habits.

Fogle will be at Glenburn School, 991 Hudson Road, at 10 a.m., Monday, June 10 to speak with kindergarten to fifth-grade students. He’ll follow that up with a visit to Bangor’s Downeast School, 100 Moosehead Blvd., at 1:20 p.m., according to a Subway news release. At noon, he’ll visit the Union Street Subway in Bangor.

Fogle’s first commercial appearance for subway came in 2000, when he appeared in an advertisement sharing his story of how he lost 245 pounds in a year by exercising and a eating a healthy diet, which often included Subway sandwiches.

Since then, Fogle has appeared in more than 50 Subway commercials. He now tours the country, talking about the importance of healthy eating and exercise.

“We’re thrilled to have Jared come back to Bangor for a visit,” said Brian Hansen, a Subway franchisee and Bangor Market Board chairman. “We’re always excited to have Jared in Bangor, particularly given the strong positive message that he is able to give to his audience.”

Fogle’s last visit to Bangor was in 2010, when he helped celebrate the Senior League World Series.
