AUBURN, Maine — A grand jury Wednesday indicted a Lewiston man on charges that he stabbed a man in a dispute over a couch.
Bryan Peabody, 18, of 24 Cottage St., was indicted on charges of elevated aggravated assault and aggravated assault. He is accused of attacking George H. Ross with a knife in Mechanic Falls.
The incident was reported at about 2 a.m. July 20 at 3 North Main St. in Mechanic Falls. Mechanic Falls police reported Ross suffered numerous knife wounds in his side, abdomen and head that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Ross was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Peabody was transported to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was treated for a cut on his hand and bruises, according to Mechanic Falls police.
Peabody was arrested July 20 on a charge of aggravated assault and held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
