PORTLAND, Maine — A suspect has been charged in connection with a weekend bank robbery, according to police.

Jamie Vandegraaf, 22, of Portland was arrested 6:45 p.m. Tuesday night and charged with robbery, according to City Spokeswoman Nicole Clegg.

Vandegraaf is allegedly responsible for holding up the Forest Avenue TD Bank on Saturday.

He allegedly walked into the bank, indicated to a teller that he was armed and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No weapon was shown during the robbery, police said.

Clegg said assistance from the public was crucial in tracking the suspect down.

Vandegraaf is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
