HODGDON, Maine — The cause of death of the Hodgdon woman found dead in her swimming pool Wednesday has not been determined yet, according to the state medical examiner’s office.
Lisa Desrochers, 46, was found unresponsive in her in-ground swimming pool by her daughter around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland said Thursday afternoon.
Shortly before she was found, Desrochers had been using a wheelbarrow to move firewood into her basement, McCausland said.
“She was putting the wood into her basement, and her pool is located in the backyard just inches away from the house, and that is where she ended up,” he said. The swimming pool was full of water, and the winter cover was not over it.
Members of the Houlton Ambulance service arrived and transported Desrochers Wednesday afternoon to Houlton Regional Hospital where she was declared dead.
Exactly how and why Desrochers ended up in the pool is still being investigated by the Maine State Police, McCausland said, but foul play is not suspected.
When contacted late Thursday afternoon, the medical examiner’s office indicated the autopsy to determine cause of death had not been completed.
