BANGOR, Maine — A Brewer man was arrested outside a Bangor movie theater on Sunday afternoon after an alleged assault on his girlfriend, police said.

Sean Anderson, 32, is facing a felony charge of domestic violence assault, according to Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.

The charge is levied from a misdemeanor to a felony due to prior convictions on Anderson’s record.

Rumsey said police gathered reports that there had been arguments between people at the Movie Magic cinemas on Odlin Road.

When police arrived, Anderson and the woman were identified, and a witness indicated that Anderson had assaulted the woman.

Anderson was arrested and brought to Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Wednesday.
