CLIFTON, Maine — Police on Tuesday identified a man killed in a collision with a logging truck on Monday.

Steven Andrews, 64, of Otis and his wife, Nancy, 62, were headed eastbound on Route 180 when their pickup truck was struck head-on by a logging truck, according to Deputy Ryan Fitch of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Steven Andrews was pronounced dead at the scene while Nancy remains hospitalized with serious injuries at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Fitch said.

The truck’s driver, Jonathan Hichborn, 36, of Orland, was not seriously injured.

Hichborn had lost control of his rig on the icy road and jackknifed, colliding with the Andrews’ pickup head-on, police said.

Road conditions were a major factor in the accident.
