BANGOR, Maine — DownEast Orthopedic Associates will begin seeing patients on Jan. 6 at its new location at 78 Ridgewood Drive, Bangor.

Founded in 1978 by Drs. John Woodcock and Jordan Shubert, the practice now has doctors with expertise in adult reconstruction of shoulders, hips and knees; hand surgery; joint replacement; general orthopedics; degenerative spine; arthroscopy; and sports medicine.

Dr. Garrett Martin joined the practice in 1984. Martin was instrumental in promoting the utilization of modern trauma techniques at Eastern Maine Medical Center including intramedullary nailing of long bone fractures.

Martin now focuses his practice on adult reconstruction.

Dr. P. Gregory Askins joined the practice in August 1988. Askins was the first orthopedic hand surgeon recruited to Bangor. Dr. John Pyne was the second hand surgeon to join the group in 1994.

Dr. D. Thompson McGuire came to DEOA from Penn State in 2003. He is board certified in orthopedic sports medicine.

Dr. Stephen Walsh joined DEOA in 2007. DR. Kenneth Morse joined the group in 2009. He is board certified in orthopedic sports medicine.

Dr. Cameron Trubey joined DEOA in 2011. He is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine. Dr. Jacob Brooks joined DEOA in July 2013. His practice interests include general orthopedics, shoulder, hip and knee replacement, degenerative spine and arthroscopy.

Six physician assistants and nurse practitioners assist the DEOA physicians in providing comprehensive orthopedic care. They are Physician Assistant Keiver Welch, Family Nurse Practitioner John Chase, Family Nurse Practitioner Misti Guerin, Physician Assistant James Caddell, Physician Assistant Jennifer Drouin and Physician Assistant Danielle St. Onge.

DownEast Orthopedic Associates also has a comprehensive physical and occupational therapy department that is dedicated to providing the best personalized therapy for orthopedic, sport or work-related injuries. The DownEast Hand and Physical Therapy staff includes Robb Gordon, Kristen Harvey, Melissa Catell and Karen Allen.
