BANGOR, Maine — A local woman who was only going to be charged with an outstanding warrant is also facing an assault charge after allegedly kicking another woman as police escorted her out of a Union Street apartment early Sunday morning.

Andrea Berry, 29, of Old Town had four outstanding warrants for her arrest, Bangor police learned when they arrived at a disturbance at 1:22 a.m., Sgt. Cathy Rumsey said.

Neighbors had been complaining of a disorderly group of people in an apartment building, Rumsey said.

Once police interviewed Berry, they learned she had the four warrants and was placed under arrest, but as Officer Nick Huggins was escorting her to a cruiser, Berry reportedly saw one of the neighbors who had complained about the noise to police and Berry promptly kicked her.

Berry also was charged with violation of bail, as one of her conditions was not to commit any new crimes, Rumsey said.

She was brought to Penobscot County Jail.
