BANGOR, Maine — Police continued Friday night to search for a lone robber who held up the Rite Aid on Broadway earlier in the day.

The pharmacy robbery was reported at approximately 10 a.m., according to Bangor Deputy Chief Brad Johnston.

The robber fled the scene on foot by the time police arrived, according to Johnston.

A state police canine unit tracked the suspect, but he was not located.

The suspect is a white male, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He was wearing a white surgical mask, green jacket, a blue baseball cap and blue jeans, and carried a black backpack, Johnston said.

Police had not released surveillance footage of a suspect as of 9 p.m. Friday.

Bangor and state police remained on the scene Friday morning investigating the incident. As of 8:30 p.m., the store was open but personnel refused to say what time police allowed it to reopen.

Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies are also assisting in the investigation.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Bangor police at 947-7384. To submit an anonymous tip, use ext. 6.
