HARPSWELL, Maine — A small, private plane bound for Washington, D.C., made an emergency landing on a small airstrip in Harpswell Neck on Sunday evening.

The single-engine plane had run out of fuel, according to Harpswell Neck Fire Chief Frank Hilton, and landed on the airstrip near Farr Lane.

The man and his wife, whose names were not available, were not injured.

“He did a good job,” Hilton said of the pilot.

The plane sustained minor damage, and will need to be repaired before it can be flown.
