BREWER — The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Whole Grain Bakeshop will be held 1:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, at St. Patrick’s Church, 21 Holyoke St.
The Bakeshop specializes in baking all-natural, gluten-free, vegan and whole grain treats. It donates its excess baked goods to the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, and plans to hold a community food drive for the shelter during its grand opening.
D’arcy Main-Boyington, director of economic development for the City of Brewer, and board member for the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, said in a press release, “This is a wonderful project. We love helping new businesses get started and grow here in Brewer, and the region can certainly use a health-conscious bakery catering to special dietary needs including organic, gluten-free and vegan. As a board member of the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, I am especially pleased about the relationship the Whole Grain Bakeshop will have with the shelter. The unsold goodies will be greatly appreciated by the shelter guests.”
Parking is available in front of and on either side of the church, as well as on Holyoke Street. The door to the Shamrock Room-Bakeshop is located at the back of the church.
To celebrate the grand opening, the bakeshop will provide free tasting samples of baked goods, as well as a variety of tasty treats for purchase. Everyone who brings nonperishable food items for the food drive will receive a 10 percent discount on any purchase made at the Bakeshop that day.
