BIDDEFORD — The Falmouth all-stars defeated Saco 13-10 to claim the state title in the Little League baseball tourney for ages 11-12 Friday.
The Falmouth all-stars advance to the New England Regional for their first game at 2 p.m. Friday against New Hampshire in Bristol, Connecticut.
Saco jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings, but Falmouth responded with 10 runs in the third inning, highlighted by Nate Rogers’ grand slam.
Ben Ham hit a solo homer for Saco in the fourth to cut the lead to 10-5, but Rogers answered again with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to give Falmouth a 13-5 advantage.
Saco battled and closed the lead to 13-10 after five innings.
Saco had the tying run at the plate with two outs in the sixth, but Sean Dilworth recorded a strikeout to end the game.
The two teams combined for five more home runs in the game, driving the tournament total to 41 home runs in 11 games.
