BANGOR, Maine — A man injured in a collision in northern Penobscot County on Monday was listed in serious condition Tuesday.
David Smart, 64, of Mattawamkeag remained in serious condition at Eastern Maine Medical Center on Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman confirmed.
The spokeswoman said no information was available on the conditions of Lois Smart, 64, David’s wife, and Brad Curtis, 29, of Passadumkeag.
All three victims had been taken by LifeFlight helicopter to the Bangor hospital after a head-on collision on Route 2 Monday afternoon. David Smart originally had been taken by ambulance to Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln before being flown to EMMC. Lois Smart and Curtis were taken by LifeFlight to EMMC from the crash scene.
The accident occurred when Curtis’ vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the Smarts’ vehicle head-on, according to police. The crash remains under investigation.
