BANGOR, Maine — A 66-year-old man is facing an unlawful sexual contact charge after his arrest on Tuesday, police said.

Herbert Conway was taken into custody after an investigation that was launched on Sept. 8, according to Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton.

On that date, police were called by a guardian who said that the child, whose gender and age were not disclosed, had been touched inappropriately by Conway, according to Cotton.

After a completed investigation by Detectives Josh Kuhn and Tim Shaw, Conway was arrested and brought to Penobscot County Jail.

He remained in county lockup Wednesday. Cotton said the investigation remains open and anyone who has been in contact with Conway in 2014 should contact Bangor police’s detective division at 947-7384.
