SACO, Maine — Three men escaped with minor injuries after a vehicle they were in struck a utility pole on Buxton Road Friday morning, police said.

Larry Taylor, Jr., 44, of Waterville, apparently lost control of a van he was driving and struck a utility pole, causing power lines to come down, according to Saco Deputy Chief Jeff Holland.

Taylor and his two passengers, Frederick Bryant of Shawmut and Bryan Saunders of Dover-Foxcroft, suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene, according to Holland.

The van had $5,000 of damage, Holland said, and the area of 450 Buxton Road will be closed until 4 p.m. so the utility pole can be replaced.
