STONY BROOK, New York — Eve L’Abbe’s goal at the 49:31 mark lifted the Maine Black Bears to a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves Thursday night.

Maine goalie Claudia Dube-Trempe set up the goal when she launched a free kick that teammate Camille Varin-Tremblay flicked to L’Abbe, who got a step on the Stony Brook defense and beat goalkeeper Ashley Castanio for her first goal of the season.

Dube-Trempe made five saves for Maine, now 3-2-2 (1-0-1 America East) while Castanio finished with two for Stony Brook, which slipped to 3-6-2 (0-2).
