PORTLAND, Maine — MaineHealth, the parent corporation of hospitals and other health care operations across the state, has announced the appointment of new members to its board of trustees.
The new board members include Greg Dufour, president of Camden National Corporation; Joseph Bujold who has served as chairman of the Franklin Memorial Hospital and Franklin Community Health Network Board since 2009; media executive Bill Burke; Bernard Gaines, who has previously served on the board; and David James Kumaki, MD.
Dufour is president and chief executive officer of Camden National Corporation, Maine’s largest publicly traded community bank and the parent company of Camden National Bank and Acadia Trust. Dufour is also president and CEO of Camden National Bank, a $2.6 billion community bank headquartered in Camden, and is chair of the board of directors of Acadia Trust, which is headquartered in Portland.
Bujold has served on the Franklin Memorial Hospital and Franklin Community Health Network since 2007, and has held his current role of board chairman there since 2009. He served as president of Bass Shoe Co. in the 1960s and 1970s and later joined an international consulting firm, Alexander Proudfoot, which works with major companies of the world to improve business processes and performance.
Burke held various positions at Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner, including president of TBS and general manager of Turner Classic Movies. He also served as president and chief executive officer of The Weather Channel Companies. In addition to being current vice-chair of the Maine Medical Center board, Burke is chair of the Portland Sea Dogs and the US Biathlon Association, a director of Simulmedia Inc., and serves on the advisory board of Specific Media Inc.
Gaines has served on the board of trustees for Southern Maine Medical Center, and now Southern Maine Health Care since 2001. He has served as chair of the board of trustees at SMMC and SMHC since 2011. He also has served previously on the MaineHealth board. He is a retired executive from Unum. He currently owns BSG Properties LLC. He is married and living in Saco.
Dr. Kumaki is an active member of the medical staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital, in Norway, Maine, specializing in Internal Medicine. He simultaneously served as chair of both the Stephens Memorial Physician Hospital Organization and the Maine Physicians Hospital Organization.
