DEDHAM, Maine — A two-story raised ranch home on Jellison Hill Road was gutted by fire early Friday morning, according to officials.
Firefighters from Dedham, Ellsworth, Holden, Orrington and Eddington were sent to battle the blaze that was called in about 4 a.m., Dedham Fire Chief Craig Shane said.
The original call came in as a fire in a pickup truck, Shane said, but it quickly extended to the nearby home. The homeowner and his dog escaped unharmed after the pickup’s horn sounded.
The house was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, Shane said. The roof ended up caving in, he added.
The state fire marshal’s office was unable to pinpoint a cause because of the nature of the damage, Shane said, but the blaze is not being considered suspicious.
