LEWISTON, Maine — A Lewiston couple were arrested and a suspected methamphetamine lab was uncovered on Pond Road, according to state police.

Ethel Hallock, 51, and Mark Theriault, 45, are both accused of trafficking in methamphetamine, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

MDEA lab response team members arrived Tuesday morning to raid the residence, McCausland said. Hallock was arrested on Monday night and Theriault early Tuesday morning.

The two live together in the Pond Road residence, according to McCausland. A search warrant was served there Monday night.

Evidence of meth manufacturing was discovered on the first floor and the basement of the two-unit apartment house, McCausland said. Hallock and Theriault had been under investigation for several weeks.

The building was evacuated when the search warrant was executed, McCausland said. Seven people, including three children under the age of 14, were in the building at the time.

McCausland said the bust marks the 23rd meth lab that Maine drug officials have responded to this year, an all-time high.

Lewiston police and fire, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration assisted MDEA officials.
