BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Daily News has entered an agreement to purchase Bangor Metro magazine later this month, the news organization announced Friday.
“In a very short time, Bangor Metro has become a popular and well-regarded publication, not only in Bangor but across the region,” said Todd Benoit, BDN vice president and chief operating officer. “We’re thrilled that Bangor Metro will be joining us at BDN and expect to find ways both publications will be enhanced for readers and advertisers as a result.”
The nearly 9-year-old publication focuses on business, lifestyle and opinion in eastern Maine. Area businessman Jack Cashman, who served as senior economic adviser and commissioner of economic and community development in the Gov. Baldacci administration, was the majority investor in the purchase of the magazine from publisher Webster Atlantic Corp. in 2012.
“Over the past three years, the team at Bangor Metro has strived to publish positive stories about the people and places that make our region of Maine such a wonderful place to live and work,” Cashman said. “The entire crew has done a tremendous job at making our publication a positive force on a regional basis, and I know the new owners will continue that progress.”
Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
