CARIBOU, Maine — Friday’s morning commute could be hampered by a few inches of snow forecast for parts of the state, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow is expected to fall late Thursday night and into Friday morning, according to the weather service.

While accumulation levels will be lower than those of a storm earlier this month, the weather service has issued a winter weather advisory for southern Penobscot, Hancock and Washington counties, with 2 to 5 inches expected.

The advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday through noon Friday.

In addition, snow is expected in Oxford, Franklin, Somerset, York, Cumberland, Waldo, Lincoln and Knox counties.
