CASTINE, Maine — Katie Lowerre posted 11 points and nine rebounds on Sunday afternoon to lead Roger Williams to a 45-34 women’s basketball victory over Maine Maritime Academy in the championship game of the Pepsi Mariner Challenge.
All-tournament pick Teagan Dunn provided eight points and 11 rebounds for the 2-0 Hawks, while tourney MVP Angelica Ariola added nine points and four rebounds and Rachel Battista had nine points.
All-tourney choice Mary Badeen led all scorers with 12 points and registered a game-high five steals and four rebounds for 1-1 MMA. Kristi Willey chipped in with seven points, a team-high nine rebounds, and three steals.
MMA’s Jillian Perron, Bowdoin’s Megan Phelps and Ericka Saucier of the University of Maine-Fort Kent also were named to the all-tournament team.
Bowdoin 74, UMFK 45
At Castine on Sunday, Megan Phelps racked up 16 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots to power the Polar Bears to victory.
Lauren Petit tallied 15 points while Sara Binkhost and Siena Mitman added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for 1-1 Bowdoin College of Brunswick.
Bobbi Myles came off the bench to pace the University of Maine-Fort Kent with 14 points.
RPI 65, UMF 50
At Gorham on Sunday, Ashley Clough scored a game-high 22 points on 11-for-18 shooting to propel Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to a win in the USM Tip-Off Classic.
Courtney Reynolds contributed 13 points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists for the Engineers (1-1).
Lindsay Ranquist led 0-2 UMaine-Farmington with 13 points and six rebounds. Elizabeth Ferry added seven points and nabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
MMA 63, UMFK 57
At Castine on Saturday, Mary Badeen scored 28 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Mariners past the Bengals in the Pepsi Mariner Challenge.
Kristi Willey provided 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Jillian Perron added 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Erika Saucier led the Bengals with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Danielle Carillo and Bobbi Myles added 10 points each.
USM 81, UMF 42
At Gorham on Saturday, Rebecca Knight scored 12 points and was among four Huskies in double figures in their win over the Beavers.
Stephanie Gallagher, Megan Pelletier and Ella Ramonas and Pelletier notched her first double-double of the season, grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.
Bianca Stoutamayer led the Beavers with eight points and Kelly Pomerleau added six points and five rebounds.
Men’s Soccer
Brandeis 3, Husson 0
At Waltham, Massachusetts — Michael Soboff scored 4:38 into the game on Saturday, sparking the Judges to an NCAA regional victory over Husson University of Bangor.
Jake Pickard scored for Brandeis (18-2) just before halftime to increase the lead, then Pickard added an insurance goal in the second half. Joe Graffy was forced to make only one save for the Judges, who outshot Husson 29-5.
Brian Potter registered 10 saves for the Eagles, who closed out the season at 13-8.

Mitchell 95, MMA 73
At Biddeford on Sunday, Parris Hill poured in 36 points, grabbed nine rebounds and made six steals to power Mitchell College past Maine Maritime Academy of Castine in the Ramada Roundball Invitational.
Donavan McClean tossed in 30 points and Devonta Mosley added 10 for the winners.
Kyle Boucher led the Mariners with 18 points and nine rebounds. Dylan Stevens netted 14 points while Dylan Price and Tyler Thayer posted 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Va.-Lynchburg 73, UMF 63
At Greensboro, North Carolina, Traxonte Sawyers and Adrian Saunders tossed in 16 points each as Virginia-Lynchburg rallied from a 19-point halftime deficit to beat the University of Maine-Farmington.
Hakeem Anthony scored 14 points and Devon McKoy posted 12 for the winners (1-1).
Pet Sumner paced the Beavers (0-2) with 15 points, Uriah Forest-Bulley posted 13 points and seven rebounds and Eric Berry added 12 points.
UNE 66, MMA 41
At Biddeford on Saturday, sophomore Jean-Luc Parker led all scorers with 15 points to pace the Nor’easters to victory in the first round of the Ramada Roundball Invitational.
Devin Thompson contributed 12 points, all in the second half, and added 11 rebounds, seven assists and six steals for the University of New England (1-0). Sam Thomas scored a career-high 12 points with six boards.
Nick Holt came off the bench to score a team-high 11 points and grab seven rebounds for the Maine Maritime Academy of Castine (0-1). Brian Goda snatched 15 rebounds.
Guilford 69, UMF 41
At Greensboro, North Carolina, Jonny Rice scored a game-high 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to propel Guilford past the University of Maine-Farmington on Saturday.
Uriah Forest-Bulley scored a team-high 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Beavers (0-1).
Cross Country
Colby men win title
At Williamstown, Massachusetts, Colby College of Waterville won the New England Division III Men’s Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
The Mules earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships next Saturday in Mason, Ohio. Colby finished with 63 points in the 54-team field to hold off Amherst (69), MIT (70) and Williams (85).
David Chelimo took sixth place overall with a time of 25 minutes, 33 seconds over the 8-kilometer course, while Jeff Hale was seventh followed by Silas Eastman (13th), Charlie Coffman (16th) and Ben Lester (21st).
