OLD TOWN, Maine — A firearm was stolen from a hunter’s vehicle last week, and police are searching for those responsible.

The vehicle, which was locked, was broken into on Nov. 12 between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m., according to Old Town police Sgt. Michael Hashey.

The vehicle was parked on Southgate Road near Birch Stream Landing. A Benelli pump action shotgun, clothing and other hunting equipment were stolen, Hashey said.

A window was smashed in order to gain entry to the locked vehicle, and the vehicle’s alarm subsequently went off, but that did not stop the thieves, Hashey said.

Anyone with information should call Old Town police at 827-3984.
