Augusta’s Julia Clukey finished 24th at the World Cup women’s luge stop in Calgary, Alberta, on Friday night.

The 2010 Olympian had competitive starts on each of her two runs but lost time negotiating Calgary’s layout.

Germany’s Natalie Geisenberger won for the third time in as many World Cup events so far this season, followed by Canadian Alex Gough, who was just 0.05 seconds behind. Fellow Canadian Arianne Jones earned the bronze medal.

Reigning Olympic bronze medalist Erin Hamlin was the top American of the night, placing eighth overall. Emily Sweeney, the 2013 junior world champion from Suffield, Connecticut, finished 10th, marking her third top 10 finish of the year.

Geisenberger, 2014 Olympic gold medalist, defending world champion and World Cup overall champion, calmly put down the two fastest runs on a comfortable night.

The winner recorded 46.912 and 46.948 seconds for a combined 1 minute, 33.860 seconds. Gough totaled 1:33.918, while Jones’ medal-winning runs came in 1:34.274.

Hamlin of Remsen, New York, totaled 1:34.451, with Sweeney of Suffield, Connecticut, two places further back in a time of 1:35.070.
