BANGOR, Maine — If you’ve had too much to drink to be able to drive home on New Year’s Eve, Union Street Towing is offering free services.

The company will continue its New Year’s Eve tradition of offering free rides home to people who feel they have had too much to drink.

Company president Butch Foss said the services have been offered for more than 20 years, and will be available in the Bangor and Brewer areas.

Foss said trucks will tow vehicles from a party to the driver’s home free of charge. The vehicle can’t be broken down, he said, and vehicles will not be transported from one party to another party.

Bangor police is also urging the public to ring in the new year safely, by using a designated driver, the aforementioned towing service or by calling a taxi.

Union Street Towing can be reached by calling 942-4200 or 942-8663.
