Stitching for beginners
BREWER — A stitching for beginners class will take place 4-5:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 19 and 26, and Feb. 2, 9,16 and 23, at Between Friends Art Center-Next Generation Theatre, 39 Center St. The class will focus on sewing basics such as hand stitching techniques, essential clothing repair, adjustment methods and elementary sewing machine use. Each lesson comes in the form of a project that will concentrate on using a particular skill. A class syllabus will be handed out during the first session.
The cost is $10 per week paid monthly ($40), and includes materials.

BREWER — A simple clothes and accessories sewing class for intermediate to advanced stitchers open to children and adults interested in learning how to read and use patterns to create functional pieces of clothing will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 19 and 26, and Feb. 2, 9,16 and 23, at Between Friends Art Center-Next Generation Theatre, 39 Center St.
Class space is limited to five students per session. Sewing machines will be required for part of the course. Those who do not have a sewing machine are asked to call and class organizers will try to make accommodations.
Each student will work on an individual project.

Very Best of Celtic Thunder
ORONO — Former “Glee” star Damian McGinty will be the guest artist for the Very Best of Celtic Thunder show at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, at the Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine.
McGinty will join Celtic Thunder performers Colm Keegan, Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, Emmett O’Hanlon and Neil Byrne for the nostalgic Irish music show, which includes dramatic lighting, choreography and the group’s signature sound. At the CCA, backed by the Celtic Thunder Band, Celtic Thunder will deliver ensemble songs, as well as anthems, fan favorites and solos on a stage transformed into an ancient stone Celtic pathway.
