BANGOR, Maine — Slippery ramp conditions were a factor in a collision that snarled traffic on Interstate 95 on Thursday morning, Maine State Police said.

Sherrie House of Dixmont was merging onto the interstate’s southbound lanes from I-395 when she lost control on the slick onramp and collided with a car driven by Kayla Harriman of Winterport, Trooper Tucker Bonnevie said.

Harriman was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for minor injuries, Bonnevie said. House was not injured.

The crash occurred shortly before 9 a.m. and tied up traffic on the bridge spanning the two interstates at one of the city’s busiest intersections.

The trooper said House likely was traveling too fast for road conditions on the slick onramp. The impact sent Harriman’s vehicle into the guardrail.

Both vehicles were totaled.
