BANGOR, Maine — The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Monday evening warning that the arrival of arctic air from Quebec will result in refreezing, which in turn could result in slick roads and pedestrian walkways in northern and eastern Maine.
Affected areas include Aroostook, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset, Washington and Hancock counties, forecasters from the weather service’s Caribou office said.
Both motorists and pedestrians were urged to be on the alert for glare ice.
A freezing rain warning that was in effect for southern Maine was cancelled.
