GRAY, Maine — While no snow was falling Thursday morning, much of Maine woke up to bitterly cold temperatures, which are expected to plummet on Friday.
The National Weather Service’s Gray forecast center has issued a wind chill advisory from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday for northern and western counties.
According to the weather service, wind chill readings are expected to dip as low as 30 below zero, which could result in frostbite and hypothermia without proper protection.
Oxford, Franklin and Somerset counties are under awind chill advisory.
The bitter cold comes in advance of a possible weekend storm the weather service is keeping an eye on.
