THORNDIKE, Maine — A 64-year-old man who allegedly assaulted a girl in January has been issued two criminal summonses in connection with the incident.

Earland Stevenson of Thorndike came to the attention of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 28, when the alleged victim called 911 to report she had been assaulted. Detective Gerry Lincoln conducted several interviews regarding the incident, including interviews with both the girl and with Stevenson, according to a media release issued Tuesday by the sheriff’s office.

Based on the information Lincoln learned in the interviews, he issued two summonses on Feb. 10 against Stevenson — for Class D assault and Class D sexual touching.

Stevenson is scheduled to be arraigned on March 17 at Belfast District Court.
