BANGOR, Maine — A water main break that temporarily closed traffic on a section of Cumberland Street has been repaired, Bangor Water District General Manager Kathy Moriarty said Tuesday evening.
The Cumberland Street main break was reported on Monday and affected four customers, Moriarty said.
It was one of four water main breaks in the city since last Thursday, she said, citing the city’s aging water mains and recent low temperatures as the causes.
Because of the the broken water main, Cumberland Street was closed to through traffic from Harlow to Market streets.
Traffic was rerouted from Market Street to Jefferson Street to Kenduskeag Avenue and Newton Street to Spring Street while a water district crew worked to locate and repair the break Tuesday afternoon and evening.
