BAR HARBOR, Maine — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has secured a home on Gilbert Farm Road while waiting to obtain a search warrant for the property, officials indicated Wednesday afternoon.

A suspected methamphetamine lab has been discovered inside the home, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland. He said in a prepared statement that MDEA agents, local police and fire personnel are at the scene and three people have been taken into custody. McCausland did not identify the people who are in custody.

MDEA officials indicated on the agency’s Facebook page that MDEA’s Downeast District Task Force began investigating the situation last week after receiving reports of meth making at the property.

It is the third meth lab MDEA has responded to in 2015, according to McCausland.

“During 2014, 28 meth labs were found by drug agents, along with another nine disposal sites, an all-time record for the state,” he said.
