BANGOR, Maine — A Swan’s Island man with a history of gun-related offenses has pleaded guilty to another such offense in federal court.

Shaun G. Lemoine, 35, pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to a charge of being a convicted felon in possession of firearms, according to information posted in the court’s publicly accessible online database.

Lemoine was arrested Feb. 4, more than a year after police obtained a search warrant for his home on Bruner Point Road and then found firearms in his bedroom, according to an affidavit filed in court by an agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

A sentencing date for Lemoine has not yet been set. He faces the possibility of serving up to another 12 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 for the firearms possession conviction and for violating the terms of his supervised release, according to court documents.

In 2007, Lemoine was sentenced to serve 18 months in federal prison after he purchased seven guns in Southwest Harbor while under indictment in state court on charges of burglary and theft. Three years later, he was sentenced to serve another eight months behind bars — two of them for violating the terms of his federal supervised release — after he stole more than $2,000 worth of lobster from a Swan’s Island lobster dealer in 2008.

Then, in 2012, he was sent back to federal prison for seven months after he was found guilty of a state civil charge of molesting another lobsterman’s fishing gear.

According court documents, Lemoine’s latest arrest comes after people close to the fisherman told police that Lemoine had rifles he used to go out and hunt deer at night, which is prohibited by state law. The Swan’s Island Police Department obtained a search warrant and then executed it at Lemoine’s home on Jan. 24, 2014. Lemoine was incarcerated at Hancock County Jail in Ellsworth at the time police searched his home, according to the document.

In the home, police found two Marlin rifles in a black metal gun case in his bedroom and associated ammunition, federal court documents indicate.
