GRAY, Maine — State troopers responded to two separate crashes on the Turnpike during rush hour Friday that started with a wheel problem on one of the vehicles, state police say.

Cpl. Lance McCleish told CBS 13 News that just before 5 p.m., three people were inside a 2005 Honda Civic near Exit 63 on the southbound side when there was a wheel malfunction. The driver lost control, hit a guardrail, crossed the road and went into a swamp, Cpl. McCleish said. Three adults in the vehicle suffered minor injuries, according to Cpl. McCleish.

The Turnpike was down to one lane while crews were on scene. About half an hour later, state police said a car was going too fast for the one lane, lost control and hit the median. Three people were inside, including an infant. The baby is OK, and two adults suffered minor injuries, according to state police. Police are not filing charges.
