HAVERILL, Massachusetts — Junior left-hander Jory Humphrey allowed only two hits in seven innings to lead the University of Maine-Farmington to a 1-0 victory over Fisher in the first game of a baseball doubleheader Monday.

Humphrey struck out six and walked two. He stranded a runner at third in the sixth when he induced a ground ball for the final out.

Jordan Croteau doubled home Tom Grady for the game’s only run in the top of the seventh. Grady hit a one-out single, advanced to second on a balk and scored on Croteau’s two-out double.

Right-hander Amauris Santana was the tough-luck losing pitcher for the Falcons as he scattered four hits while not walking a batter and striking out 11.

Washington 10, UMPI 0

At Chestertown, Maryland, Logan Dubbe tripled, doubled, singled and drove in two runs to fuel a 14-hit attack in Washington College’s win over the University of Maine-Presque Isle.

Sam McGovern gave up just three hits over seven scoreless innings to earn the win for Washington (10-4).

Brady Rowe, Jesus Garcia and Matt Cauchon each notched a single for UMPI (2-3)

Softball

UMPI sweeps Southern Va.

At Buena Vista, Virginia, Sara Packard scattered eight hits to lead the University of Maine-Presque Isle to a 4-1 win over Southern Virginia in the first game of a doubleheader and pitched two hitless final innings in a 6-0 victory in the second game.

Packard struck out five and walked one in the first game while Whitney Donovan started and earned the win in the second game after scattering five hits over five shutout innings. She didn’t walk a batter and struck out one.

In the first game, UMPI rallied for three runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Carly Bell’s RBI single. Shannon Brown chipped in with a double and RBI.

Jamie Pinkston doubled, singled and drove in a run for Southern Virginia.

In the second game, Shannon Brown, Sara Packard and Katie Patenaude each doubled to spark UMPI (3-5) with Packard, Patenaude and Donovan each driving in a run.

Katierose Helems singled twice for Southern Virginia (0-11).
