BANGOR —  Bangor Ballet  announced that company members have auditioned for and been accepted to a variety of national summer dance intensive programs.

Soloists Velstara Vardamis of Bangor and Zach Williams of Old Town received tuition scholarships at Ballet Chicago and will attend the two-week advanced performance program as well as the regular five-week summer training program. Ballet Chicago, under the direction of former New York City Ballet dancers Patricia Blair and Daniel Duell, chose the Bangor Ballet Studio as the only New England location for its audition tour for the second consecutive year and 12 Bangor Ballet company members were accepted for summer programs from that audition.

Of the remaining 10 Bangor Ballet company members who were accepted into the Ballet Chicago summer program, Hanna Sabbagh of Brewer and Kelsie Washington of Caribou will join Vardamis and Williams at the five-week training program.

Other programs where Bangor Ballet dancers were accepted include Boston Ballet, Carolina Ballet, Joffrey Ballet Chicago, Walnut Hill, Bossov Ballet and American Ballet Theatre Alabama.

Elise Dudley of Winterport will attend the American Ballet Theatre program in Alabama and Abbigail Blanchard of Orrington will attend the Chautauqua Ballet Program. Danielle Barrett of Hampden will attend Camp Ballibay for the Fine and Performing Arts. Sophia Wirta of Bangor, Genevieve Wakeman of Addison and Jennifer Colavito of Holden will attend Walnut Hill. Sadie Webb of Hampden will go to Bossov Ballet, and Anna MacDonald of Bangor and Emma Brandes of Bradford will be at Southern New Hampshire Dance Theatre. Lorna Pinet of Bangor auditioned for and was accepted at Complexions Contemporary Ballet in NYC and Urbanity Dance Company in Boston and will attend both programs.
