BANGOR, Maine — Speed appears to be a factor in a rollover crash on outer Ohio Street that sent a 19-year-old woman to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The crash happened about 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Ohio Street and Griffin Road, when the driver of a black Ford Ranger Edge pickup truck bearing New Hampshire plates made a left turn from Griffin Road onto Ohio Street at what witnesses said was a high rate of speed, Bangor police Sgt. Wade Betters said at the scene.

The driver, however, lost control of the pickup, which rolled approximately three times, at some point hitting a guardrail and then a fence before coming to a rest on its roof, Betters said.

The driver’s name and hometown were not immediately available.

The accident prompted the temporary closure of the section of Ohio Street that runs from the Ohio Street intersection to Sunbury Village. The street reopened about 3:30 p.m.
