BANGOR, Maine — In the wake of a stretch of relatively warm weather, the National Weather Service on Wednesday issued overnight frost advisories for parts of interior Maine.
In effect from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. Thursday, a frost advisory issued by the weather service’s Caribou office applies to southern Penobscot, interior and coastal Hancock and central and coastal Washington counties.
Affected cities and towns include Bangor, Brewer, Orono, Old Town, Amherst, Aurora, Dedham, Eastbrook, Great Pond, Orland, Deblois, Grand Lake Stream, Pembroke, Perry, Princeton, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Blue Hill, Eastport, Machias and Cherryfield, forecasters said.
Forecasters from the Gray office issued a similar advisory, effective from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday for the foothills and coastal plain, namely southern Oxford, Franklin and Somerset counties; interior York and Cumberland counties; interior and coastal Waldo County; and Androscoggin and Kennebec counties.
Affected cities and towns include Rumford, Norway, Fryeburg, Oxford, Farmington, Wilton, Madison, Skowhegan, Pittsfield, Lewiston and Augusta.
According to the weather service, a frost advisory means frost is possible. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
