BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Brunswick man was charged with aggravated assault Saturday night after allegedly attempting to strangle his girlfriend several times.
Vincent “Lucky” Oppedisano, 46, was charged with the Class B felony, as well as with misdemeanor domestic violence criminal threatening, according to Brunswick police Cmdr. Marc Hagan.
Police were called to a Brunswick home just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday for a report by a 40-year-old woman that during an argument, her boyfriend had attempted to strangle her, threatened to kill her, struck her, “head-butted” her and attempted to strangle her again, Hagan said.
The woman fled the home shared by the couple and went to a friend’s house to call police, Hagan said. Despite visible signs of assault consistent with her claims, the woman refused medical treatment, he added.
Oppedisano was arrested at the couple’s home and taken to Cumberland County Jail, where he was held without bail.
He is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on July 21.
