BUXTON, Maine — A 27-year-old man who lives in a home where his mother operates a day care center has been charged with possession of child pornography.
Peter J. Blanchette of Buxton was arrested Monday at his mother’s home and taken to the Buxton Police Department, where he was released on unsecured bail pending an Aug. 7 court date.
Blanchette’s mother operates County Corner Kids Daycare from the living quarters of the home, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit began investigating Blanchette after receiving a tip, McCausland said. The tip did not indicate that any of the children who attend the day care center were involved in the pornography, and there is no evidence that Blanchette’s mother knew of or was involved in her son’s activities, McCausland said.
Maine State Police contacted the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, which licenses the care center for nine children.
The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit seized Blanchette’s computer, which will be analyzed to determine if any victims are from Maine.
No further information was immediately available Monday afternoon.
