CAMDEN, Maine — Camden police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 22-year-old man who went missing Monday.

The adult male, whom police only are identifying as Jon, left abruptly from a hotel at 10 a.m. His family is concerned about his well-being, according to a news release from Camden police.

Jon is from New York City and arrived in Camden on Sunday.

The police are declining to provide Jon’s last name at the family’s request.

After the call for help from the family Monday, Camden police enlisted Knox County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Joslyn and his bloodhound, Gunner; Maine Warden Service game Warden Michelle Merrifield and her tracking dog, Piper; and Warden Chris Dyer to help with the search that was conducted in Camden neighborhoods during the day Monday.

Jon is not wanted for any crimes, according to Camden Police Detective Curt Andrick, and is not considered a threat to public safety.

The family wants to know he is OK and his whereabouts. There is reason to believe his last known location was Knowlton Street, Andrick said.
