WALDOBORO, Maine — A man wanted in connection with an armed home invasion in March in Waldoboro was arrested Wednesday in New Hampshire by federal and local authorities after being featured on the U.S. Marshals’ “Fugitive of the Week” program.

Miguel Carpio, 31, was arrested without incident by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and officers from the Manchester Police Department early Wednesday afternoon in an apartment in Manchester, according to a news release from the marshals service.

Carpio was indicted by a grand jury in Lincoln County Unified Criminal Court in May on charges of Class A felony robbery, Class B felony burglary and theft, and criminal restraint, a misdemeanor.

According to Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde, Carpio, Rafael Carpio, 26, and Sergio Carpio, 34, all of Manchester, entered a home on Ralph Wink Road on March 9, held the homeowner at gunpoint, and demanded cash and prescription drugs.

The men zip-tied the homeowner’s hands and feet; stole $2,000 in cash, prescription drugs and a machete; and left the home, Labombarde said previously.

Rafael Carpio and Sergio Carpio, who were indicted on the same charges as Miguel Carpio, were both arrested in New Hampshire and were taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on May 28.

Carpio remained at large, and according to the marshals service release, was arrested based on leads from the U.S. Marshals Service District of New Hampshire’s “Fugitive of the Week” program, which features fugitives in local newspapers and on television, radio stations and the Internet. Carpio had just been featured on the program earlier Wednesday.

Labombarde said Thursday that Carpio’s arrest came as good news to his department.

“We’re thankful for the federal marshals working with us on that,” he said.

Carpio will be held at the Hillsborough County Jail pending an initial appearance. He is expected to return to Maine to face charges, according to the release.

Both Rafael Carpio and Sergio Carpio were held at Two Bridges on $10,000 cash bail until Wednesday, when their bail was posted, according to jail staff.
