HERMON, Maine — A disabled man from Hermon hasn’t been able to do what he enjoys most because of his disability. But a special wheelchair could make all the difference for him.

Chris Fortier, 23, has lived with arthrogryposis his entire life. He uses an electric wheelchair, operated by a joystick with his thumb, to get around.

But he he can’t move through the woods to hunt and fish. So his community is trying to raise $40,000 to help him buy a “Rip Chair,” an all-terrain vehicle with treads that will let him be anywhere in the great outdoors.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help him get the money he needs.
