ROCKLAND, Maine — City Manager James Chaousis has repaid more than $5,000 to the town he previously managed.

Boothbay Manager Daniel Bryer Jr. said this week Chaousis paid $5,098 on June 19. The money is to reimburse the town for an oil delivery to his home in September 2011 that was billed to the town’s credit card and for more than three years of cellphone service for two of his family members.

The selectmen requested reimbursement in a May 28 letter to Chaousis. Chaousis served as manager of Boothbay from November 2010 until he began work in Rockland in March.

Chaousis said last month the transactions were inadvertent co-mingling of personal and private expenses. He also pointed out last month he had been paying the town office’s Internet bill since November but would not request reimbursement for that money.

Chaousis repaid the town $471 in February 2012 for charging another oil delivery in December 2012 to the town. According to a Boothbay Harbor Register article from March 2012, the town took disciplinary action against the manager but neither party would reveal what was done.
