LIMINGTON, Maine — Police in York County responded to a spate of vehicle accidents on the Fourth of July, including one dirt bike and vehicle crash that left the dirt bike rider in critical condition.

In that accident, Patrick Smith, 23, of Standish was operating a dirt bike at a little before 12:30 p.m. in the breakdown lane on Route 25, at the Limington rest stop. When Audrey Godeck, 50, of Buxton turned left into the rest area in a 2009 Honda Civic, Smith struck her vehicle in the rear driver’s quarter panel, according to a press release from York County Sheriff William L. King Jr.

Smith, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the dirt bike and was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland in critical condition. Godeck was not injured, King wrote.

Cumberland County Deputies assisted with the reconstruction of the crash and Limington Fire Department assisted with traffic control. The crash remains under investigation, police said.

About an hour later, deputies again responded to a motorcycle crash, this one at the intersection of the Ross Corner and Gulf roads. Lisa Pimpare, 47, of Lyman apparently lost control of her 2007 Suzuki motorcycle, King wrote, and was ejected. She injured her leg and received cuts and scrapes on her legs and arms, according to the press release. She was wearing a helmet.

Police said that driver inexperience appeared to be a factor in the crash, which caused Pimpare to be taken to Goodall Hospital in Sanford with non-life-threatening injuries.

Finally, at 4:40 p.m., deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene of a single motor vehicle crash on Limerick Road in Arundel. Roger Scannel, 81, of Arundel evidently went off the road in a 2013 Subaru Impreza, hitting several mailboxes before striking a tree, police wrote.

He was taken to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford by Arundel Fire and Rescue for cuts to his legs and chest pains.

Police said that according to preliminary analysis of the crash, driver fatigue appeared to be the cause.
